Essay Response - Secrets

Everyone has a secret, something nobody knows deep down inside of them, a secret nobody will ever find out, unwillingly waiting in side of them to be revealed to another human being. As this secret grows inside of you, becoming even more secret with every breath you take, more secrets are becoming real inside of you. Secrets hide inside of you, barely even noticed until somebody comes along and you must make an effort to hide it from them. A secret brings excitement, fear, and knowledge into this world.

Everybody has a secret and with it they develop a fear of discovery and excitement of knowing they have something to call their own. Francie had a secret; she lied to the principal about moving and living with relatives in a home where, if she had really lived there, would have been able to attend the school she desperately wanted to attend. McGarrity and Johnny had a secret of their own of how Johnny owed him money, but after Johnny’s death, McGarrity had kept their secret even more. Secrets can be let out, as McGarrity’s secret about his wife was told to Katie, or kept even closer than before, such as Johnny owing McGarrity money.

A secret can be something to fear, the fear of somebody finding out about it, or a fear of you finding out a secret that you never wanted to know. Secrets can also be a joy, something to be proud about, although others may not even know it is you that they are envying. Secrets can also be a source of knowledge, knowledge of your friends, your family, even yourself. Secrets are the foundation of hope, for the future, love, of your friends and family, and hate of those who despise you and through their secrets you see that.

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn Response 1 Choices

With choices comes responsibility and with that the world can become something completely different from the world we thought would always be ours. So many doors in life will open up for you, as so many will contain a good road to travel on leading you to the place you wish to go in life, but so many more will come to distract you and once you step through that door, onto that path in life, there is no going back. As these choices are revealed and you are forced to accept that challenge and choose one, this life will not be the same. One choice is all it takes to change the course of life you are on and with this one choice, your future changes.

One choice can lead to another, which leads to another which you would not have had without that first decision you made. As you choose to proceed your friends, family, and peers will see you in a different way. Johnny had a choice to make: to drink or to not drink. As he chose the wrong one, Francie’s neighbors saw her father as a man who was not a good father. Johnny drank and drank, and he soon began seeing himself as a bad father, just as the neighbors did.

As Johnny’s decision cost him his life, his reputation, and his family’s money, you can see that choices play one of the biggest parts in a person’s life. Although a choice is sometimes just a decision that you forget in half an hour, it is also something that affects the rest of your life, whether you want it to or not. Your life is filled with choices and with those choices you decide and plan the course of your future.

Veterans Essay

When is the right time to honor our veterans? Is the right time just on November 11, Veteran’s Day? Is there really no right or wrong time but every day the time to honor our veterans? Veterans need to be respected every day of the year for they deserve more than just a few days of honoring.

Veterans have risked their lives for our freedom. These brave men and women have left their families, their lives, everything they have to travel far to fight to defend the freedom of our country. So many Americans have done this, are doing this now, and will do this to defend our country. How would you like to leave your life to fight, possibly even lose your life, for other people you don’t even know and will never meet? Leaving, fighting, dying; this is not the life anyone wants to live, but fighting for freedom is what many, young and old, wish to accomplish in their lifetimes.

We as Americans need to celebrate our veterans more, for they not only leave their families, they sacrifice their lives. We often think of them as people who just leave our country to fight some people from other countries so we can win the war. Veterans do so much more than that. They sacrifice their lives for us. Even though we may not know them, these heroes care about us and our freedom. Veterans have seen what no man or woman ever wants to see, experienced what no man or woman ever wants to experience, but cares how every man and woman wants to care.

These veterans, heroes, need to be admired, thanked, and honored for their hard work, services and dedication for this country where, because of them we call this the land of the free and the home of the brave. So we say thank you to all the veterans of America for perusing their dreams of fighting for this country. I hope younger generations follow in their footsteps and realize the need of such heroes as these brave, courageous veterans.
